  • The Shyft offers a structured, hands-on programme for young people aged 16–25 with learning disabilities who are preparing for life after education.

    These weekly sessions are designed to build routine, responsibility and confidence through practical, work-based activities. Participants take part in creating real products through processes such as printmaking, ceramics and food preparation, developing skills that feel purposeful and transferable.

    Designed for those preparing for life after education who may not yet be ready for traditional employment or internships, but want something more purposeful in a supported environment.

    Sessions are delivered in small groups (maximum 8 participants), allowing for a calm, focused and supported setting.

    Session time: 10:00am – 1:00pm
    Session length: 3 hours
    Group size: Max 8 participants per location

  • Sessions are priced at £33 (3 hours at £11 per hour), including all materials.

    To secure a weekly place, we ask for a £40 deposit, which is deducted from your first month’s payment.

    Ongoing sessions are paid monthly in advance.

    We keep group sizes small to ensure a calm, supported environment for all participants.

    Places are limited and offered on a rolling basis.

Ceramics (Hand-building) - SEND Work-Skills Programme

A structured, hands-on ceramics programme where participants build practical work skills through hand-building techniques, creating functional pieces and working towards a small product line.

Participants will develop focus, coordination, and attention to detail while producing a collection of work. Selected pieces may be prepared for use or sale, giving participants the opportunity to take part in something with a real outcome.


Making with Natural Materials - SEND Work-Skills Programme

A structured, hands-on making programme where participants build practical work skills using natural materials, creating a small range of seasonal, functional pieces.

Participants will develop practical making skills while working towards a small product line, producing a collection of work. Selected pieces may be prepared for use or sale, giving participants the opportunity to take part in something with a real outcome.


Shyft Café - SEND Work-Skills Programme

A structured, hands-on café programme where participants build practical work skills through preparing drinks, working with food, and operating within a café-style environment.

Participants will develop routine and practical food preparation skills, alongside an understanding of customer interaction — working towards contributing to a real, functioning setup.
